DEI Philosophy
My interest in individual differences in perceptual processing is rooted in the recognition of human diversity and the desire to help people gain insights into their roles in the world. As a result, I am equally as passionate about mentorship and transformational teaching as I am about scientific rigor. In my DEI work, I am guided by the following two principles:

Some projects that I have collaborated on include the following:
- Collective for Academic Self-Worth: grassroots organization with a mission to bolster the self-worth of marginalized trainees within scientific spaces
- Develop lesson plans on topics including balancing productivity, goal setting toward intentional growth, and navigating systemic barriers within academia for elevating recruitment and retention in the field of psychology
- Professional education workshop development grant from the Delaware IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (DE-INBRE) for our professional development workshop: "Increasing the Academic Self-Worth of Marginalized Students & Trainees in STEM Research: A Biweekly Seminar Series" (2024)
- Talk at the Society for Improving Psychological Sciences (SIPS) Meeting on "Increasing the self-worth of marginalized students and trainees: A tool for a better, more diverse psychological science" (2022)
- Psychin' Out: grassroots organization with a mission to aid underrepresented aspiring psychologists in breaking into graduate programs
- Graduate Application Mentorship Program for peer-editing materials for doctoral and Master's program admissions and NSF GRFP fellowship awards applications
- Dialogue at the Psych for Peace and Justice conference on "Neurodiversity Inside Psych" (2023)
- Faculty Advisor & Grad Student Compacts: document with a goal to create an open dialogue between faculty advisors and incoming graduate students to reduce miscommunications arising from the unspoken expectancies that comprise academia’s "hidden curriculum"
